Doing spring cleaning in the fall
I spent the weekend washing and ironing curtains, scrubbing blinds and taking care of other household chores. It was ”fall cleaning” at my Mom’s house and I enjoyed it.
Don’t misunderstand. I’m not a fan of housework but in doing some deep cleaning for my mother I was able to help make her home a more comfortable place. Having a clean home has always been one of my Mom’s priorities but she isn’t able to do much of the work anymore.
In many ways, the weekend was a family bonding experience. It brought back memories of the Saturday morning cleaning sessions at our house when we were growing up. One of my sisters dropped by and my daughter helped out as well. When the work was all done, my Mom strolled from room to room smiling and admiring the cleanliness. We smiled too.
